Reflection and exposition of 1 Thessalonians Chapter 1

Paul’s delight of the report Timothy brought to him about the church

He rejoiced in their:
Work of Faith
Labour of love
Steadfastness (immovable) hope in Jesus Christ

Becoming imitators of our leaders
The Thessalonians could see the light of the Gospel shining into the lives of Paul, Timothy, Silvanus and others and with a convicting power, the Holy Spirit helped them to imitate their leaders.

We thank God for giving us leaders who live the gospel and therefore as a church we are called today to imitate our leaders as they lead us in what the Lord has for us.

Becoming Examples
From being imitators to becoming examples, allowing the Holy Spirit to replicate the character of Christ in us so that we will too start to shine the light.

“No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. (Luke 11:33)

The Holy Spirit will use our living testimony to convict the hearts of others.

True testimony shown by the fruit:
1. Hospitality
2. Seeking Holiness (turning away from idols or anything which takes our focus from God)
3. Live a life waiting for the return of the King of Kings and making sure that our lives are will prepared for us to go back with HIM. Just like the Virgins who has sufficient oil in their lamps.
